What is this strange creature in my tank?
« on: May 15, 2010, 05:42:33 PM »

I first noticed this inhabitant about 6 months ago.  Since then he has grown dramatically, and now there is a second one in the tank, which is strange b/c I haven't added any LR in some time.  Sorry about the quality of the pictures.  It/they don't seem to be causing any issues, but I like knowing what's in my tank  Smiley

It looks to be a glass anemone or aiptasia. I would remove it before it takes over the tank. They are pretty strong and can sting / kill corals.

Thanks for the info.  I guess I'll be getting me some Peppermint Shrimp this weekend.  Gonna also try to post some new pics next week.

I have had great kill rates with kalk paste and a syringe.

I have also used the two part epoxy and just sealed them into the rock.

If it is one a rock you can remove just take it out and let it dry for a couple of days and return it to the tank.

Cry I am loosing the battle against these invaders, my tank is being over ran by these creature's.  I have used the aiptasia-x with some success, but it's always temporary.  I have removed some of the smaller pieces and that work's well, would it be and issue if I remove like have of the LR out of the tank over a hundred pounds and one time?  What type of effect will this have on the tank if any?
